Tournament Format
Tonight's format is meant to give the top 8 performers a chance at glory as the first official pickleball champions. Because we have based the season on rotating partners all season long, we will have the following rounds.
Placement Rounds
Match 1: The Top 8 are randomly assigned and play a match
Match 2: The courts keep the same players, but rotate once clockwise to form new teams.
Immediately following Match 1 and 2, players will be seeded 1-8 based on their total points scored in the two placement matches. For ties, the higher seed is given to the better regular season finish.
Final Tournament
Single elimination, 4-team tournament with the Top 8. After the re-seeding from Match 1 and 2, the teams will be formed based on their seeding order. Seed 1 and Seed 2, Seed 3 and Seed 4, and so on. Match 1 will be between the 1 & 2 seed and the 7 & 8 seed, with the other match being seed 3&4 vs. seed 5&6.
Winners move on to the finals!
Standings are calculated with heavy weighting towards Average Point Differential and Win percentage, with secondary weighting towards total number of games played and total number of wins. A minimum of 4 games is required for maximum points.
